About us / Our history

Volunteering in Romania is a relatively new concept with varied results. Too often stories I told of volunteers feeling exploited or host organisations feeling frustrated and let down by their volunteers.

In 2010 three individuals living in Transylvania, Romania came together with a united passion to support the sustainable development of the region where they lived.

The group initially identified the social problems they intended to tackle:
  1. An under-developed volunteering community in Transylvania.
  2. A struggling welfare state with many disadvantaged communities operating on the fringe of society.

By combining our skills and experience together with our passions and interests the notion of Care2Travel as a working social enterprise was born.

Our work is to support and promote responsible volunteering, breaking down barriers and establishing environments where volunteering can flourish.
