In
history, bread was honored by our ancestors. It signified life and
God's blessing, and was known as the most important folk food. Bread
was consumed with all foods such as: vegetables, soups, or meat.
Homemade bread is made from a mixture of wheat and rye, or wheat and
corn flour, and occasionally pure wheat flour. Although Its size and
height varied by country or bread type, the average weight was 5–6
kg, and its basic diameter was 20–25 cm.
In
the past, families usually kneaded and baked for their family
regularly, depending on the size of the family and oven. Bread was
baked in a special oven that was usually placed in the house or yard,
and it took 18 to 20 hours to prepare. Back in the day, bread-making
was a woman’s job. Girls started learning to knead at the age of 14
or 15 and had to practice bread-making until they got married.
