Volunteering / Volunteer placements / Summer Camps
During the long summer months children who live in poverty or state care have little to look forward to. Organised events, activities, trips or holidays are almost non-existent.
Volunteers on the Summer Camp project will help to create an unforgettable summer for youth with limited opportunities in Romania. In Romania, the summer holidays are three months long and youth, especially those from the villages, have little to keep them occupied. To avoid and discourage any negative behaviour, these camps are designed to keep youth engaged and having fun during their holidays.
As a volunteer on this project, you will work as part of a team with local and international volunteers to plan and run English themed summer camps for youth of various ages. Volunteers are encouraged to use their passions, such as music, art, sport, and drama, to create fun and inspiring programs where youth are engaged and motivated to learn English.
Volunteers on this project can expect plenty of laughter, new friendships, and the satisfaction of knowing they have helped to create some truly memorable experiences for the local youth.
You are not required to have experience in teaching or working with children to participate on this project, as you will be working with the support of a local camp facilitator who will provide direction and guidance.
This project is open from mid-June to mid-September each year
